"Life in a Northern Town" is a song by The Dream Academy, a British folk rock group. The song was the opening track to their 1985 debut album, The Dream Academy. Reaching #7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in February 1986, it was their biggest hit.
The song was covered by country music duo Sugarland, along with Little Big Town and Jake Owen, on the Sugarland Change for Change Tour. The live performance was made into a music video for Country Music Television. This cover was also played live at the 2008 CMT Music Awards on April 14, 2008. Although not officially released as a single, this rendition began receiving airplay on country radio, debuting at #57 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart dated for April 5, 2008 and reaching a peak of #28 on that chart. For the week of July 12, 2008, the song has debuted at #43 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
This live performance will be included on the Deluxe Fan Edition of Sugarland's forthcoming album, Love on the Inside, and on a re-release of Little Big Town's 2008 album A Place to Land.

Little Big Town is an American country music vocal group. Founded in 1998, the group has comprised the same four members since its inception: Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Roads Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Phillip Sweet. The quartet's musical style relies heavily on four-part vocal harmonies, with all four members alternating as lead singers. Westbrook and Sweet also play rhythm guitar.
A Place to Land was the title of Little Big Town's third studio album, released in the United States on November 6, 2007. Its lead-off single, "I'm with the Band", peaked at #32 on the country charts. On April 23, 2008, Little Big Town announced it was leaving Equity for Capitol Nashville.
Shortly afterward, they charted along with Sugarland and Jake Owen on a live cover of The Dream Academy's "Life in a Northern Town". This live recording, taken from Sugarland's 2007 tour, reached #28 on the country charts based on unsolicited airplay. Later in 2008, Capitol issued "Fine Line" as the second single from A Place to Land, which was re-issued in November 2008 with "Life in a Northern Town" as a bonus track.

"Little White Church" is the title of a song recorded by American country band Little Big Town, written by the band along with Wayne Kirkpatrick. It was released in March 2010 as the lead-off single to their fourth studio album, The Reason Why, released on August 24, 2010.
The music video, which was directed by Kristin Barlowe, premiered on CMT on June 1, 2010. The video begins with Karen Fairchild getting dressed up for her wedding before leaving her house and beginning to walk down a country road. She is soon joined by the rest of Little Big Town, and the group proceeds to the church. While she is on the way to the little white church, Fairchild's mother gags her fiance and ties him up. When the group arrives at the church, no one has seen her groom, and they exit the church. The group is then shown performing on stage at an outdoor festival, while Fairchild's mother lifts up the trunk of a car, revealing the groom tied up inside, before handing off the keys to the band and allowing them to drive away.
Juli Thanki of The 9513 gave the song a thumbs up, describing it as something that stands out "when so many singles on the radio sound the same." She also noted that in a "time of year when an infectious, upbeat hit ushers in spring after a dreary winter," this song "fits the bill perfectly." Kevin John Coyne of Country Universe gave the song an A- rating, favoring the groups' harmonies and the instrumentation. He concluded that with "a few more records like Laura Bell BundyΓΓé¼Γäós and this one, and country radio just might get interesting again." Bobby Peacock of Roughstock spoke positively of the song, favoring "the song's energetic performance and uncluttered production," although he felt the song's lyrics were "a bit simplistic in parts."
"Little White Church" is an up-tempo country song, backed primarily by electric guitar, with a hand-clap during the pre-chorus. The song's female narrator confronts her love interest, telling him that he's not welcome anymore unless he takes her down to the "little white church" and marries her. Band member Karen Fairchild performs lead vocals for the song.
"Little White Church" debuted at #48 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the week of March 20, 2010. It has become their highest-charting single since "Bring It on Home" in 2006.

"Little White Church," which was released in March 2010 as the album's lead-off single, has since become a Top 10 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
The album's title track was released as a digital single on July 27, 2010 to begin an iTunes countdown to the album release on August 24, 2010. Three further digital singles ΓΓé¼ΓÇ¥ "Kiss Goodbye," "Why, Oh Why," and "All the Way Down" ΓΓé¼ΓÇ¥ were released weekly leading up until the album release. "Little White Church" is the first release to radio, having reached Top 10 on the Hot Country Songs charts. "Rain on a Tin Roof," written by Chris Stapleton and Trent Willmon, previously appeared on Julie Roberts's 2004 self-titled debut album. The album's second single, "Kiss Goodbye," was released to radio in October 2010.
The Reason Why debuted at #5 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and became their first #1 record on the U.S. Billboard Country Albums charts, with first week sales of 41,939. As of November 20, 2010, the album has sold 121,026 copies in the U.S.
The Reason Why received primarily positive reviews from music critics. Giving it four stars out of five, Jonathan Keefe of Slant Magazine thought that it was the band's most consistent album, praising the vocal harmonies as well as the cuts on which Karen Fairchild sang lead. He also thought that the band's sound was less derivative of Fleetwood Mac on this album than on previous works. Jessica Phillips of Country Weekly rated it three-and-a-half stars out of five, saying that the group had "renewed energy" on it, also highlighting Fairchild's lead vocals. Both Keefe and Phillips compared "Little White Church" favorably to Little Big Town's 2005 single "Boondocks." Thom Jurek of Allmusic also thought that the album showed a growth in sound over the band's two albums for Equity Music Group, giving it four stars out of five. Jim Malec of American Twang thought the groupΓΓé¼Γäós vocal arrangements were "overbearing and gimmicky," claiming that that the album often "sounds like the soundtrack to a Broadway musical." However, he complimented the group member's individual voices, in particular Karen Fairchild's.
